In the year 2076, the fate of humanity rests in the hands of 21 young warriors known as The Love Punks and The Satellite Sisters. Follow them as they blast off from Australia’s Pilbara desert to the far reaches of space on a mission to protect the world from an angry sky god.

NEOMAD is a ground breaking epic sci-fi adventure created as an interactive comic for iPad and a 160-page full-colour comic book.  A fictional fantasy based on real characters, places and stories that connect the people to their country, NEOMAD  aims to bring attention to the rich Indigenous cultural resources of the Pilbara in Western Australia, equally as rich as the vast mineral resources of the area. As part of Big hART’s Yijala Yala Project, a group of 40 young people from the Ieramugadu (Roebourne) in the Pilbara have been collaborating with SUTU, creator of the multi-award winning NAWLZ interactive comic series.

In 2016 NEOMAD won the Gold Ledger Award – acknowledging excellence in Australian comic art and publishing. NEOMAD was also named by the prestigious Kirkus Reviews as one of the best books of 2013.

“At NEO-Learning, a project of Big hART, we champion the young people of Roebourne under the direction of elders. We have been working with the community for over ten years. Our educational platform sources, designs, and creates content for schools and authentically address First Nations perspectives with a focus on digital arts. The money raised through teacher/school membership keeps the doors to the Digital Lab in Roebourne open.”
